(Cartersville, GA ) - The Blue Devils could never fully get rid of Ware Prep until the final three minutes, when they finally pulled away for good to win 123-100 Sunday afternoon at JH Morgan Gym. Summer Hill lead 39-20 in the first half, but Ware fought back to cut it to nine by the break. In the second half, the Blue Devils re-built a huge 80-51 lead at the 11-minute mark. But, Ware Prep took advantage of Summer Hill's second unit and raced back to cut the lead to as little as eight with 5:10 remaining. Georgia Elite Christian battles Fort McPherson 2/14/08 - Georgia Elite Christian battled Fort McPherson but came up short of the win, but coach Davis had a chance to highlight his elite trio of 8th graders and they delivered. The Fort McPherson adjusted and face guarded Drew to slow him down and Keenan Palmore and Mark Jones took over. Keenan Palmore finished with 26 and Drew Davis finished with 21 points. Georgia Elite Christian was in a "see-saw" battle through the first half, but the size, experience, and depth of Fort McPherson was too much for Georgia Elite Christian as they won 82 - 68. It was Team Georgia alumni Jordan Price, Justin Colvin, and Jessamen Dunker from Chapel Hill Middle School taking on Team Georgia Alumni Fred Thomas and Tony Parker from Redan Middle School. Chapel Hill won the Dekalb County Middle School Championship 56 - 41. Douai u20 World Championship#1 Tournament in the world by George McPherson 2 /11/08 - Coach Linzy Davis is working with a national committee of coaches to finalize the American u20 USA Elite National Team that will compete in Douai, France, June 25 - 29 08. Davis has taken USA Elite teams in various age groups from 13u to u20 and has won Five FIBA world championships. Coach Davis boast that his players get their names known in over 120 countries. And the Douai u20 World Championship draws in all of the NBA scouts who are eager to evaluate the best players in the world. We were surprised to find http://nba.hoopchina.com following Davis around the planet. But his players were excited to see their names in Chinese even if they can't read the articles.
Linzy Davis is clearly established as the number one expert in the USA on international basketball. He has five world titles, he has traveled the globe as a ambassador of basketball as he has promoted the game and has trained and imported players from around the world to the USA. He is highly respected among National team coaches around the world.
Davis has been followed in Poland Press Zaczynał grać w koszykówkę,

make basketball the most popular game in the world."
said Davis. "It is a great game that brings
people together to enjoy the good life." Eagles Landing HS excitement amid rumors by George McPherson 2/10/08 - Eagles Landing HS has had their best year under coach Clay Crump. Eagles Landing is led by high scoring senior Jamie Vaughn, who has signed with Wingate College. But the rumors are hot as it looks like Eagles Landing is at the beginning of a dynasty as the school will potentially have a starting front-line that averages 6'8 next season with new talent moving to the area. "I have been getting a lot of calls from international coaches who are interested in placing their top players where Drew will attend high school next year. There are also a few blue chip players nationally that have expressed interest in attending the same school that Drew will attend next year." said coach Linzy Davis, who is the father of Drew. "Great players like to play with other great players. Many of the kids that play on the USA Elite National Team know that Drew is going to play for a great high school coach like Clay Crump. The kids know that Drew's high school will get invited to the best high school tournaments in the nation. The kids know that they may have an opportunity to compete overseas. The kids also know that they will play on TV. So they always ask where is Drew going to high school next year. said Davis. "I just tell them that we live in the Eagles Landing High School district, but we are just worried about this year." But it has been rumored that coach Davis has been to quite a few games at Eagles Landing High School and many of their players may play in the Nike Team Georgia Elite program this spring/summer. We asked coach Davis about his summer plans. "I have a lot of exciting challenges on my agenda. We are currently evaluating players for the u20 USA Elite Team that will compete in Douai, France in June 2008. We are in the selection process of selecting the u16 USA Elite National Team that will also compete in the world championships in Europe. I'm also selecting a new group of players who will join our returning players from last year's team to compete nationally on the 14u National Circuit. I'm trying to get 10 special players physically, emotionally, and psychologically ready to compete at the varsity level as freshmen. That means we will play the best 17u teams until we can prove we can beat them. These young players must earn their way to prove they can play at the varsity level. Then they will be placed on the Hi D-1 radar early. And yes, there are a few special juniors at Eagles Landing HS, led by Tommy Hamilton and BJ Johnson, who have a chance to earn college scholarships, and I am flattered that they trust me enough to ask if I would coach them. I believe they have the commitment and talent to be special seniors. I also believe that Eagles Landing will have the talent and coaching to beat schools like South Atlanta, led by Derrick Favors, who will be a senior, and a future pro. Balocka Recruitment hotter than hot 2/9/08 - 6'8 Petras Balocka has been on a tear since transferring to Pensacola JC from ETSU in order to select a bigger school. Well, Balocka is getting his wish as he has become America's Most Wanted. The list of schools are growing fast as college coaches scramble to complete their rosters for next season. Balocka is a multi-dimension player who is a bull on the inside and a smooth shooter on the outside. Rutgers, Iowa, Hawaii, Cleveland State, SMU, Idado, Evansville, James Madison, Arkansas Little Rock, North Texas, are just some of the schools that are working hard to get Balocka. His stock continues to rise with each game and Balocka says he is taking his time with his decision. That is dangerous news for the current schools that are working to get Balocka, because they all know that their will be more big boys calling like Rutgers and Iowa. Georgia Elite Christian has their hands full this weekend 2/8/08 - The senior trio Vincent Rogers, CJ Johnson, Devon Brown, and 8th grade sensation Drew Davis, who continues to treat the 3-point line like a lay-up and is averaging 15 points per game, will have their hand full at 7:30 pm tonight when Georgia Elite Christian faces Cedartown Post Grad Team. Georgia Elite Christian has been a dangerous team all season averaging over 114 points per game. The competition at the prep school and post grad level has been equally challenging, and the college coaches have benefitted from watching the games. "There is a lot of high flying, gun slinging talent on the prep level. Every game is a war." said Davis. "It has opened doors for seniors who need a second chance to get into the college of their dreams, and it is great to see it happen." 6-8 Vincent Rodgers is the main senior on the college D-1 radar screen. Rodgers has 8 solid D-1 offers, and is also considering Europe as an option to play professionally and continue his education. "I have talked with several pro clubs that are willing to pay him 6-figures and pay for his college education while playing professionally. It is a great option if you have international experience, and you are comfortable with the European cultures and languages. Vincenct hasn't been overseas so it could become too big of an adjustment at this age. My former player, Carlos Morias, who committed to Kansas State, changed his decision and took a heavy 6-figure contract to play in Spain right out of high school. It turned out to be a very good decision for Carlos." said Davis. "When you travel and play internationally like Carlos Morias did when he played for the Angola National Team, you get a global perspective about the opportunities that are available. That is one of the reasons why I coach the USA Elite National Team for u20 and u16. If you can teach kids about the world at an early age and get them comfortable in all enviornments, they will be able to take advantage of the best opportunity when they come of age." Super bowl takes a back seat to Vonashek's priorities
2/7/08 - Many kids were at home watching the super bowl. but 6'10 Jr Thomas Vonashek, Brunswick (Glynn Academy) wasn't one of them. He was working out with coach Al Outlaw and the Team Georgia Elite Skills Academy.
"He is the poster child for what Team Georgia Elite is all about." said Outlaw. "We place academics above athletics. Thomas showed tremendous commitment to come to Atlanta after his game, in which, he led his team to victory over Effingham, scoring 14 points, 16 rebounds, and seven blocked shots. I saw it myself and was very impressed." "He studied his books and worked on his fundamentals for two days of instense training." said Outlaw. "This is the same commitment Sharif Abdur-Rahim had. Thomas is special. He worked on his fundamentals for five hours before driving four hours back home with his high school point-guard teammate. Every coach in the country needs a Thomas Vonashek on their team. He is loyal, dedicated and committed." Mack puts up 32 points in an elite performance
2/6/08 - 6'7 Jr Rayshon Mack, who will travel with Team Georgia Elite this spring/summer, scored a game-high 32 points to lead Crestwood past Darlington. He is athletic, aggressive, skilled, and a good rebounder. He can score inside and outside. He can score in many ways. He is a high D-1 prospects that is already been offered a scholarship from several colleges.SUMMER HILL BLUE DEVILS REPORT FOR 2/5/08:

line.... Reynolds caps scoring with
dunk...
Cedartown, GA - The Summer Hill
Blue Devils scored quick and often Saturday
night on the road, making the Cedartown Boys &
Girls Club their like home, in a 136-78 rout of
the Cedartown Post Grad squad.
The Blue Devils jumped out to a double-digit lead early,
before Cedartown cut it down eight after a flurry of three-pointers by Ivy
Boozer. However, Summer Hill's stepped up its defense to trigger a huge run.
When Mike Reynolds wasn't getting easy transition baskets, Stuart Mitchell
was knocking down threes and Chris Jones was powering his way in the paint.
The Devils carried an insurmountable 63-36 lead into the half.
The second half was no different in the abundance of scoring,
but it came from the perimeter instead as the Devils shot 13 of 18 from
beyond the arc, with Reynolds canning six of his own. DeMarlow Simmons went
on a string, scoring eight consecutive points in one stretch.
But, it was Renolds who stole the show down the stretch,
hitting four treys in a row at one point and scoring 31 of his 47 total
points in the second half alone. As a team, the Devils shot 65.8% from the
field (54/82), while hitting 19 of 31 three-point attempts, good for 61.3%.
Defensively, Summer Hill held Cedartown to 39% from the field (33/84).
After a forfeit win over Fort McPherson, the Blue Devils now
sit at 15-4 on the season and will be back in action next Sunday when Ware
Prep (Atlanta, GA) comes to town for a 4:30pm tipoff at JH Morgan Gym.
