19th Annual Nike Junior World Championship, Douai, France Malik Hairston leads the USA to the finals Malik Hairston scored a tournament high 28 points, and added seven rebounds to lead the USA to a 94 – 83 win over Lithuania. It was the second double-digit win in a row since narrowly defeating Turkey on a last second shot by Tywon Lawson. Malik has been the leader for the USA. He is the only returning player and earned All Tournament honors in 2004. Malik has played like a tournament MVP.
Rudy Gay added 17 points, 11 rebounds, and Kevin Durant added 17 points eight rebounds, while Tywon Lawson finished with 10 points, six assist.
The USA continued their full-court pressure and transition game and quickly took control of the game. The USA led at half-time 55 – 39. The USA pounded the boards with a 58 – 35 edge over Lithuania. Spencer Hawes pulled down
eight rebounds and Deshawn Sims was a big contributor on the boards with five. The USA will play for the Nike Junior World Championship in Douai, France vs Turkey |
