Malik Hairston leads the USA to the finals
Coach Davis and Malik Hairston
Malik Hairston scored a tournament high 28 points, and added seven rebounds to lead the USA to a 94 – 83 win over Lithuania. It was the second double-digit win in a row since narrowly defeating Turkey on a last second shot by Tywon Lawson. Malik has been the leader for the USA. He is the only returning player and earned All Tournament honors in 2004. Malik has played like a tournament MVP.
Kevin Durant in 3-point contest
Rudy Gay added 17 points, 11 rebounds, and Kevin Durant added 17 points eight rebounds, while Tywon Lawson finished with 10 points, six assist.
The USA continued their full-court pressure and transition game and quickly took control of the game. The USA led at half-time 55 – 39. The USA pounded the boards with a 58 – 35 edge over Lithuania. Spencer Hawes pulled down
