The USA Elite National Team has an impressive list of NBA players led by Carmelo Anthony, MVP, Douai Jr World Championship 2001. It was the first USA championship in the history of the tournament.  Coach Linzy Davis guided the team in 2001 and also won another Douai World Championship in 2005, led by tournament MVP Tywon Lawson, Rudy Gay, Kevin Durant, Spencer Hawes and a host of other great players, and in 2006 led by tournament MVP Chase Budinger, Thaddeus Young, Javaris Crittenton, and a great supporting cast.

A young USA Elite National Team comes from behind to defeat Spain in u23 Tourcoing World Championship, France

by Kenny Woods

Tourcoing, France- The USA trailed 35-28 at halftime to Spain.  But it appeared that the young talented team responded to a motivational talk by coach Linzy DAVIS, who was going for his 6th WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.

The USA had to make another heroic second-half comeback after trailing Spain 17 - 13 after the first
period, and 35 to 28 at half-time. “We didn’t panic at half-time.” Said coach Linzy Davis. “We made our
adjustments. They were keeping someone 6’7 to 7’3 out on our PG Drew Davis, to take away his 3-point
shot. We spaced out the floor and attacked the rim focusing on the extra pass.“

It worked for the USA as they came out in the third period on a 15-7 run and closed the lead to one
point, 43-42. Then the USA Elite went on a 20-15 run to come away with a 63-55 win. “It was a tough
defensive game and an electric sold-out wild crowd. This was a once in a lifetime experience for
everyone involved.” Said Davis. ”This was a great accomplishment for our team as our three starting
guards, Drew Davis (verbally committed to the University of South Florida in the Big East Conference),
Aaron and Andrew Harrison were just 17 years old competing against 22 year-old players. And the
average age of our team was just 18 years old. We felt top young talented high school players were
better to blend in with two college seniors. Willie Clayton, Robert Uphaw and Ty  Walker dominated inside and Savon Goodman dominated from the wing.

The USA will be favorite to repeat as seven of their players can return next year. “We have a lot of
talent in the USA.” Said coach Davis. “We are developing a list of top talent for next year. We want to
be better than ever.”

Drew Davis brings a wealth of international basketball experience to the class of 2013

John Egbunu and Drew Davis make early commitment

by Kenny Woods

12/5/11- Atlanta, GA- 7'0 2013 junior center John Egbunu, McDonough (Georgia Elite Christian) GA and 6'0 2013 PG Drew Davis, McDonough (Georgia Elite Christian) GA, have verbally committed to the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL, which competes in the Big East Conference.  Linzy Davis, who coaches the USA Elite National Team, that competes in the 22u Tourcoing World Championship, Tourcoing, France, and Team Georgia Elite AAU Basketball Club, said head coach Stan Heath and assistant coach Steve Roccaforte, have been following John and Drew’s  AAU games during the summer recruiting period, and believed in their ability to help South Florida take the program to the next level.

Coach Davis calls John Egbunu the number one  junior in America. "He is the most dominating player in Georgia since Dwight Howard." said Davis.  "We call him Dwight Howard, Jr.  He changes the game on both ends of the floor. He rebounds and block shots with Pro precision, and he is unstoppable at the rim on offense with a 38 inch vertical." He can sprint the floor and glide for dunks.  He is developing a good  mid-range game.

Drew Davis is rated among the top 3 point guards in America, and will lead the 22u USA National Elite National Team, that will compete in Tourcoing, France, in April 2012.  He is known for his NBA 3-point range. He scored a school record 56 points his freshman and sophomore year. He also scored a school record 13 3-pointers in a single game.  He averaged 24 points a game playing up in 17u AAU with Team Georgia Elite.  He is a pin-point passer and good defender. Both players have a 3.0 plus GPA.

3/9/2010- Former University of Arizona basketball player, 6'9 Mohamed Tangara, has been given clearance from his pro team in Morocco, to join the USA 22u Elite Team that will play in the Tourcoing World Championship, Tourcoing, France.   "We have a powerhouse team of pro, college, and high school players." said coach Linzy Davis, who has won 5 FIBA World Tournaments, and finished third to eventual champion Serbia.  "This year will be very tough in pool play because the teams that finished 1,2,3 are in the same pool with the host country team, France.  But we have loaded up for the challenge."

Soph Willie Clayton, Thomasville HS, GHSA Player of the Year, and Freshman Drew Davis, ICSGA co-Player of the Year will join the USA Team.  Both players were very impressive in the international tournament last year.

Victory Christian advances to the State Championship

by George McPherson

2/19/2010- Freshman guard Drew Davis scored 23 points including six 3-pointers from NBA range and sophomore guard Michael Stephenson scored 23 points and added 16 rebounds to lead Victory Christian to a 74-58 win over White Creek. Victory Christian will face North Georgia Christian for the State Championship, Saturday at Columbus State University at 2:30 pm.  Freshman Chris Watts added 11 points and 6'7 Junior Dante Slade added 10 points.

Victory Christian is 15-1 and  has not lost a game since the addition of Drew Davis and Michael Stephenson.  Both are the leaders of the team and form the best backcourt in the state.

Victory Christian takes first place with a win over Heritage

by George McPherson

2/8/2010 - Victory Christian defeated Heritage Christian to take first place with their 15th win in a row.  Coach Linzy Davis says he is molding his young players into future high caliber D-1 prospects led by a trio freshman Drew Davis (#3),sophomore Michael Stephenson (#11) and 6'9 Soph Sunny Odogwu (out with a broken foot).

"Mike Stephenson, is the next Jalen Rose (former NBA player and part of the University of Michigan Fab 5),"  says coach Davis. "I'm teaching Michael and Drew how to become triple-double players." said Davis. "There is an art and science to getting there and both are working hard to balance out their game. Michael's game is tailor-made for the way I coach.  He can get 30 points with ease.  I want him to be recognized as a great defender and rebounder.  He brings a lot to the table.  He will be one of the most highly recruited guards in America because he will learn how ot do a not of things that other guards simply don't work on."  Drew Davis is a Mark Jackson type-point-guard with Reggie Miller range and shooting talent. "Drew is what I call a Box Jellyfish." said coach Davis. "He looks harmless but is very deadly to those who come in contact with him.  Drew does more for a team in a half than most players accomplish in an entire game. A college coach pointed out to me that he noticed in a video highlight that Drew scored 14 points and six assist, and that was just one half of basketball.  You don't know how deadly his sting is until the game is over.  He will be flat-out scary his senior year.  He is already being highly recruited by big D-1 schools."  Sunny Odogwu is an inside muscle machine, and juniors Robert Pearson and 6'7 Dante Slade are becoming college prospects.  And 6'3 Freshman Chris Watts is a future D-1 prospect.  Vahko K is the only senior and has several small colleges that have expressed interest.

Victory Christian, first year coach Linzy Davis has turned Victory into an ELITE program with a 15 - 1 record including 15 wins in a row.  Victory got revenge by stomping Heritage 84 - 42.  Victory loss their first game of the season to Heritage 62 - 50, but Robert Pearson was the only player that faced that team.

Victory Christian is the number one seed going into the state tournament and coach Davis said his team hasn't peaked yet. "We are still improving.  We are about 15% of what I expect us to be in three years.  We have a lot to work on.  But I must say, we are on course.  And I also know we will attract elite talent to make us a top 5 school in the USA next year.  We plan to be #1 in the USA."

Freshman Drew Davis breaks school record with 56 points

by George McPherson

By George McPherson

"10/18/2009- Bauchi State, Nigeria - Coach Linzy Davis will build the high school international program at Victory Christian, Conyers, Georgia.  He is doing it in part with the best basketball players from around the world.  He has identified 27 international players who will soon come ashore into the east coast of the United States from North to South, with 12 prospects landing in Georgia.  This special group of players are in grade 7 to 12 and are 6'8 or taller.  "I have identified some special players." said Davis  "The have the potential to become special D-1 prospects."    College coaches are already following Team Georgia who will be the team to beat in 17u, 16u, and 15u.
